This model is the result of the combined efforts of Ectaco’s linguists, engineers and programmers. It represents the most recent generation of the high-performance integrated educational tools. This bidirectional dictionary contains over 450,000 translations to and from English and Japanese (Kana and Kanji) including medical, technical, business and legal terms. All translations from English are displayed with "Romanized" pronunciation keys.
EJ400T model envisages five methods of character input. "Romanized" input methods allow entering characters of each syllabary by their Latin transcriptions. Depending on the selected input method the string of Latin letters typed by you is automatically converted to characters of Hiragana, Katakana or Kanji (in Hiragana pronunciation). Input by strokes or by radical can be selected when the desired characters can’t be located by their Latin transcriptions.
This model will facilitate all the foreign language tasks for you. When you are unsure of the proper word’s spelling, the Vector Ultima™ spell-checker allows you to enter the word as you hear it and to choose a spelling version from the list of suggested variants. This model allows for new words recording and dictionary updates from the Internet.
Unlimited voice synthesis in English is able to pronounce any text, not only dictionary entries. Over 1,100 indispensable phrases covering 12 topics will help you adjust to almost any situation on a foreign trip. The device also contains a 128 KB bilingual business organizer with a telephone directory, a scheduler and a password security function. You can exchange data between your EJ400T and a personal computer to keep a backup copy of the your organizer data. There is also the Hangman game that will help you study foreign languages.

The Kenkyusha Romanized English<->Japanese Dictionary is one of the most comprehensive and popular dictionaries among students of Japanese. This unit is useful for help in speaking, reading and writing everyday Japanese. It also provides over 20,000 examples and idioms. The Roman alphabet based dictionary is derived from the standard Hepburn system with some modifications.
You can input words of which you are not sure, despite incorrect spelling. The Japanese translations of the English headword are marked with accent marks for correct pronunciation. Phonetically spelled, "Romanized" Japanese words may be entered as well, regardless of spelling. Headwords that are spelled phonetically are properly accent-marked.
Advanced search of idioms or examples is available.
Japanese is displayed in Hiragana/Katakana/Kanji and Romaji (English transliteration of Japanese characters) with accent marks.
